What’s on the Downoad
Your mywaytoo download contains a PDF file with thousands of  DIY Dot Cards and 2 Word 97-2003 Template documents to edit, and, of course, the Instructions.

Note that A4 paper size is 210x297mm (8.3x11.7in) and US Letter size is 8.5x11in (216x279mm). The required paper size must be selected for downloading.

Paper and envelopes are NOT included.
Copy and Print
To easily copy and print your mywaytoo cards, you will need Adobe Reader software. These PDF files were tested using Adobe Reader 7.0. If you haven’t got Adobe Reader software, you can download it from:
www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html (This opens a new browser window).
If you have an earlier version of Adobe Reader software or you are running on MS Vista, you may or may not be able to accurately access these files, and it might be advisable to download the latest version. This is a free piece of software that reads PDF files. It is free because Adobe wouldn’t be able to sell their PDF creation software if people couldn’t read their PDF files. PDF stands for ‘Portable Document Format’ which:
“lets you capture and view robust information
- from any application, on any computer system - and share it with anyone around the world”.

Choice of Dot Pictures
There are thousands of prepared cards ready for you to print and construct. All you have to do is select the appropriate special occasion, the colour for the text and the dot picture of your choice. There are 12 dot pictures from which to choose:
apple, banana, cherry, grape, kiwi, lemon,
mango, orange, peach, pear, pineapple and strawberry.
Choice of Special Occasion Headings
There are 22 special occasion headings, prepared and ready to print:
Best Dad, Best Mum, Best Teacher, Birthday, Christmas, Congratulations, Father’s Day,
Get Well Soon, Good Luck, Good Work,
Have a Good Day, I Love You, Mother’s Day,
My Friend, New Year, Sorry, Thanksgiving,
Thank You, Valentine’s Day and Well Done.
And now also Best Mom and 4th of July.

Also there are 3 partially prepared headings for you to print, and then complete by hand for whatever special occasion you wish, for example, 'Best Cook', 'Good Idea' and 'Happy Dewali':
Best............., Good............. Happy.............
Create Your Own Heading
And on another design, the heading on the card is completely blank. You can use the ‘No Message’ cards and create your own message, either handwritten, or printed using the ‘My Message’ template in the EDIT BOXES folder. So the number of occasions available is infinite!
Fill in the ‘To’ and ‘From’ Names
Whatever the occasion, you can also fill in inside the cards with ‘To’ and ‘From’ names written by hand, or you can use the ‘To From’ template in the EDIT BOXES folder and print either, or both, names. So you can print your name in the From box on several Christmas cards all in one go!
Using the Templates
Using the templates requires putting the paper through the printer again. This is easy enough, but you must keep an eye on where the new printing should go on the paper, and you should refrain from folding until you have finished printing.

The ‘My Message’ template can be used for any message whatsoever. And if you save the Word document on your computer, using ‘Save as’ with a unique name, you can reuse it. I like printing ages in large type and different colours. You can also use these cards as Party Invitations, or print in a pale colour, perhaps a light grey, as a guide for a child to follow, thereby helping them to write more independently.

The choice is yours! You just have to make sure that the message stays in the box on the template, if you want it to print out in the allocated space. You can check the positioning by printing out the template box alone and holding it up to a copy of the card with the light behind them. Note that these sheets of paper appear in the printer in the same orientation relative to each other. To overprint the occasion onto the card, replace the card into the printer, turning it over so that the printed side is face down on entry, and so that the first edge out of the printer the first time, will be the first edge into the printer this time.

The ‘To From’ template has 2 boxes, the top one for the ‘To’ name and the bottom one for the ‘From’ name. If you only want to print one of the names, then leave the other box blank so that you can write it in by hand when you have finished printing. And if you save the Word document on your computer, using ‘Save as’ with a unique name, you can reuse it. I like using fonts and colours that look like handwriting, or you can print in a pale colour, perhaps a light grey, as a guide for a child to follow, thereby helping them to write more independently. Using the From name in this way is a good opportunity to get a child to write, and therefore learn, both of their names, the surname/family name being particularly helpful if the child gets lost.

The choice is yours! You just have to make sure that the message stays in the box on the template, if you want it to print out in the allocated space. You can check the positioning by printing out the template boxes alone and holding them up to a copy of the card with the light behind them. Note that these sheets of paper do not appear in the printer in the same orientation relative to each other, and therefore it is necessary to rotate one sheet by 180 degrees to check alignment. To overprint the To and/or From names onto the card, replace the card into the printer, turning it over so that the printed side is face down on entry, and so that the first edge out of the printer the first time, will be the last edge into the printer this time.
Construct the Card
When all the printing is complete, you can construct the card itself. All you have to do is, very carefully and accurately fold the sheet of paper twice, and remember that folding the paper is a good illustration of a ‘half’ being one of two equal parts:
1. Place the printed side of the paper face down on a clean, flat surface.
2. Fold the sheet in half along the longest length.
3. Then fold in half along the (new) longest length so that the Dot Picture will appear on the front of the card.

Note: If you are writing occasions  and/or names by hand, now is a good time to do it.
Join the Dots and Colour in Picture
The dots on the card are sequentially numbered 1 through 10 inclusive. The positioning of the first dot and the direction to the second dot are arbitrarily selected. Preferably you need to see where the child starts, as beginning at the ‘other’ end may produce the same result.

And, of course, the dots can be joined up, and the picture coloured in, by either the sender or the recipient. In fact, a child may enjoy joining up the dots and colouring in the picture on a card received through the post, and may also be delighted to receive one that was completed by Granny or Granddad.

Before printing the PDF file, reduce the size of the image. This may be achieved by selecting either 2 or 4 images per sheet or a smaller scaling percentage. These will produce scaled-down images of the card, which, after a bit of trimming, may be completed like the cards, and used for gift tags. They do look cute!
